Teaching

Teaching, to me, is a kind of community work. It is building the raised beds and planting the seeds so that an interconnected garden may grow between and within each student.

For an introduction to how I work, I consider the letters I send through The Reading and my books to be a kind of teaching that transcends borders and time.

To find out about upcoming offerings, I post announcements on The Reading.

Academic Teaching

To work closely and intensively with me toward a formal degree, I am a poetry faculty member at the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. Typically, a faculty mentorship lasts for one semester, and guarantees the exchange of at least five packets in response to your critical and creative work, in addition to intensive in-person residencies during your MFA tenure. Learn more about the program.

Independent Teaching

I offer community writing spaces, writing feedback, group seminars, and one-on-one manuscript consultations when my schedule allows.

Other Offerings

Occasionally, I offer one-off courses to the public through other venues such as The Shipman Agency's Work Room, Tin House, the University of Arizona's Poetry Center, and One World.
